A New Beginning…

Husband & I at my Graduation 2019 (Masters of Education)

A Journey Together

Every success story started somewhere to make it big.

I’m currently working on my Doctorate in Education and live in a small town called Alpine in West Texas. The town of Alpine is located on a high plateau in the Chihuahua Desert, bordering both the Davis Mountains to the north and the Chisos Mountains to the south.

I’m the creator and sole employee of Lori Yūgen. This has been an ongoing process of building my empire since 2013. It is the culmination of years of studying, experimenting, exploring, and diving into the world of fine art.

In celebration of obtaining my Bachelor of Fine Art (BFA) degree in 2015 and selling my artwork, the name "Lori Yūgen" was developed to signify my debut as a professional artist. It was a difficult challenge while attending classes, working part-time, and raising my daughter as a single parent.

Continuing my education I completed my Masters of Fine Art (MFA) and Masters of Education (M.Ed) consecutively in two years. The MFA program has enabled me to discover two of my greatest passions: watercolor and ceramics, and to expand my knowledge of these media through studio courses. The journey I took along the way led me to discover that I have a strong passion for all forms of art in general.

Through two of my favorite professors Carol Fairlie and Gregory Tegarden I was able to honed my skills, discover techniques, and uncover my unique style that would help me along my journey to achieving my dream career. Along the way, I was provided support from several family members and friends cheering me on as I grew my professional business.

In honor of my mom Carmen Chavez, who has been there for me my whole life, I want to give her a big shout out. My husband Robert LeBlanc, who I've been married to since December 13th 2019, has also contributed immensely to my success. I am grateful to him for his support and for his efforts in helping my business grow.

I use Yūgen (which is a short version of my last name) as the core concept of aesthetics in my art

“The appreciation of “Beauty In Art”. It values the power to evoke, rather that the ability to state directly. The principle of Yūgen is a profound, mysterious sense of the beauty in the universe that triggers emotional response too deep and powerful for words and only through its suggestiveness or few brush strokes can it be implied what has not been said or shown, hence awakening many inner thoughts and feelings”

One of my biggest fascinations is the ability to create. As an artist, I find creating art to be a magical ability, a way to artfully conjure up magnificent artworks that speak to the audience in a particular way. This special social connection to others through my creative and expressive artwork fuels my passion.
